Jan Jokinen Davis is a heartfelt preacher, compassionate pastor and dynamic leader. She has over 20 years of varied ministry experience in the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Born and raised in northwestern Pennsylvania, Jan and her husband Deames have lived in Texas for nearly 30 years.
Jan graduated magna cum laude from a small, private Christian liberal arts college and began a career with Texas Instruments in Dallas. She gained corporate leadership experience as a Sales and Marketing manager, before acknowledging a deep call to ordained ministry. Jan attended Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and obtained her Master of Divinity degree in 2001. She served on staff at Custer Road United Methodist Church, Plano, was pastor in charge at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Sachse and Executive Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church, Plano. Jan has significant experience in organizational development, church leadership, vision casting, preaching, strategic planning and church growth.
Jan loves the community of Rowlett Texas and is involved in the Rowlett Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Rowlett Association, Leadership Rowlett and Pray Rowlett. She believes the community should be a better place because of the church and its people. She has led the church in multiple community wide programs that have improved the lives of surrounding neighborhoods where there are pockets of poverty, hunger, and domestic violence. Striving to reach the next generation, she is a strong advocate for young parents and families with children and youth. Her vision is for the church to point people to a relationship with Jesus Christ by everything the people of the church say and do.
Jan serves in the North Texas Conference in various leadership positions including chair of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry and co-chair of the Clergy Effectiveness Task Force. Jan is the first elected clergy delegate to the 2016 General Conference in Portland, OR and was the second elected clergy delegate to the 2012 General Conference of the United Methodist Church in Tampa, FL. She is currently seeking her Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Leadership at Perkins School of Theology, SMU.
